Are you looking for investment opportunities that will reward your efforts and guarantee you a sound, secured and dignified future? Did you know that these opportunities are just next to you and waiting to be explored?
Here is a great opportunity for you. Make a date to join the many others who will be gathering at the 2nd Kampala Strategic Leaders’ Summit that connects Africa’s most influential and key business leaders, high level SME operators, investors, bankers and policy makers on the same platform at the Sheraton hotel, here in Kampala.
The Bible says you reap what you sow. So, where are you sowing your money? For purposes of this article, we have selected just four areas within the domestic wealth creation climate in Uganda, to illustrate the phenomenal strategies that can move you up the middle- and upper-class ladder by turning your investment strategies around.
Education:
Education is one such area with huge investment returns if you have the patience to see your investment seeds go through the process of maturation. In an interview with one of the speakers of this year’s Summit, Prof Samuel Sejjaaka, the Team Leader, MAT Abacus Business School, emphasised the point that Africans are yearning for education and this is an area worth investing in. He opines that an investment that enables society to self-empower, make a difference and turn around their fortunes on a young continent like Africa, should be encouraged.
Investing in massive food production.
Every day tonnes of food are consumed all over Africa. Here in Uganda and in the Eastern Africa region with such growing population as the population indexes show, food production and agriculture in general is an area where you cannot go wrong with your investment. No one will abstain from food.
For example, it is a fact that Uganda remains the most favourable country to feed the East Africa block and beyond because of her excellent agricultural climatic conditions. Thus, individuals who have the capacity to invest in agriculture and employ modern methods of farming thereby adding value on farm produce will not only reduce losses but will be smiling to the bank uncontrollably almost always. Maize, sorghum, cassava, matooke, potatoes among others, can be turned into other products and stored for a long period of time. If you are looking for areas to become a millionaire in Africa, consider this area for your investment.

Affordable housing.
Statistics show that Africa has a huge deficit when it comes to housing. The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Uganda, for example, estimates that Uganda has a deficit of 2.5 million housing units and worse still, as more people move to urban areas, the deficit is projected to increase to 8 million in the next few years. Though managing real estate business requires a bit of management skills, it is an investment area that one hardly makes losses. Why not invest in decent affordable housing and get rich from the sleep of others?

Health.
Many Africans die from illness due to poor health care and those who get proper care, spend their hard-earned money in countries such as India, United Kingdom, USA among others. Why not participate in helping people get better health care systems at home and at the same time make money out of it?
The above four investment areas are just a tip of the iceberg of the numerous investment opportunities and business growth ideas that will be discussed on 27th of February, at the Second Kampala Strategic Leaders’ Summit.
The Summit that has gathered experts to discuss ICT implications on entrepreneurs and enterprises, how SMEs can tap into Foreign Direct Investment and how SMEs can benefit from the recently signed African Continental Free Trade Agreement is coming to you for the second time.
Other topics that will be discussed include; Relevance of Corporate Governance in SME growth in the Emerging Markets, The Future of Women (CEO) in Corporate Leadership, and Foreign Direct Investments as a Link for SMEs in Emerging and Developed Markets for economic development.
