Description

I have been asked a number of times what I consider to be the true definition of success and what the secrets to success are. My first impression has always been that such questions make it look as if success is a destination with a specific route. In my view it is really irrelevant what I or anyone else thinks about success, rather knowing that you are happily doing something that gives you fulfilment and adds value to humanity is really the issue.

Unfortunately, I am unable to prescribe the exact formula for success, if there is any such formula. However, I am convinced that success is not about wealth, although very necessary. It is not about fame, although admirable. Neither is it about power. Rather, success is about knowing that your decisions, actions and thoughts add value to humanity and being aware that someone has a reason to press on in life regardless of challenges because of you.

That for me is priceless, it is dignity, it is love and kindness. The only definition of success that counts, in my view, is how you define it. There is no one way to succeed. Success, to me, is whatever makes you feel you are living with a purpose that makes you a respected member of the community because you are adding something of value to it.
This is essential because when you define success for yourself you remove pressure, feelings of inadequacy, and, worst of all, any attempt at trying to live up to someone else’s expectation for you. .
To be truly independent is to be free of others’ ideas of who you should be.
I have come to realize that when you do what you love, knowing that your little efforts, no matter how small they may be, are helping solve some of the world’s problems, you experience happiness which to me is imperative.
I believe the world has seen many problems, disasters and untold crimes in recent times, largely because the concept of success has been misunderstood, and its pursuit has become an illusion to many especially the younger generation, the dotcom generation.

People find themselves trapped in careers and professions they hate but are unable to quit because of the money, fame and power and in the end die, become completely frustrated. Some erroneously believe that there are some short cuts to the destination called success. Regrettably, success is not a destination; rather, it is something you attract by the person you become, it is not like striking gold by chance; rather, it is a brick-by-brick process; you start from A and go through the process to get to Z.

In this book I have tried to share with you what I consider as the basics on the path to real and extraordinary success, fame and power. The principles shared in this book are meant to help you understand and appreciate the mechanics of success in today’s competitive world.

In doing so, I am guided by the fact that the best way to achieve your success is to work on your own self harder than you do on your job because, realistically speaking, there are indeed no short cuts whatsoever to success.
