But how long will we talk about this? We must find solutions,” Ms Aheebwa said.

Research has shown that some of the major challenges that have, and continue to affect entrepreneurship development in Africa, are lack of practical entrepreneurship education, organic growth strategies, entrepreneurial leadership, cash flow management, and basic operational skills for owners and SME managers. Solutions to these and many more challenges, Ms Aheebwa said, is what the partnership seeks to address.

She said SMEs’ growth in Africa is critical since they provide employment and revenue to the government.

The recently released World Bank report, for example, considers Uganda as among the fastest growing populations in the world, (average growth rate of 3.3%), and consequently, urges Uganda to create at least one million jobs annually if it is to absorb the growing graduates joining the labour market. Ms Aheebwa said the magic to achieve this objective will be to help build the capacities of start-up businesses and entrepreneurs with practical entrepreneurial education to enable them grasp the requisite skills in enterprise development.

“For us to reduce unemployment in our country, we must encourage a lot more of our graduates to go into entrepreneurship development and equip them with the skills to manage and grow their businesses. It is the reason why we have partnered with Smart24, a business television, to ensure that our expertise in SMEs development and growth initiatives benefit a lot more entrepreneurs in the coming years” Ms Aheebwa said.

To know more about the core services provided by Human Capital International, kindly click here.

Human Capital International (HCI), a human capital development company committed to unearthing and developing human and business potentials, and Smart24 TV, a business channel, have entered into partnership to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
